Design Spotlight: Dan Brunn's Bridge House

2019 was a monumental year for the Dan Brunn architecture team, as we officially unveiled our highly anticipated, one-of-a-kind Bridge House. This visionary architectural project was born in the heart of Hancock Park and was brought to life following two years of hard work, detail and partner integrations. 2019 also marked the centenary of the influential Bauhaus design philosophy that has inspired me throughout my career and was the foundation for the design concept of the Bridge House. As mentioned in my sneak peek post, this venture was a true passion project and I couldn’t have been more pleased to have my friends at Bosch home appliances join me in this endeavor.

Bosch’s high-quality kitchen appliances are featured in several key areas of the Bridge House, including the open-concept design kitchen layout, laundry room and guest kitchen. This partnership was ideal since Bosch’s streamlined design approach mirrors my signature minimalist aesthetic, while also providing the reliability of its products’ premium performance and advanced technologies.

For Bridge House, I selected Bosch products that reflect Bauhaus design in order to further establish this design theme throughout the home and maximize functionality, especially in the areas like the kitchen. The Bauhaus kitchen design philosophy is simple: create a layout where function guides form, leaving no room for wasted space. Each element must serve a purpose, resulting in a streamlined, functional environment.

Virtuous architecture is progressive and evolves in tandem with changes in technology and homeowners’ needs and preferences. As such, for this project I selected the Bosch black stainless steel appliances for the guest kitchen; this collection offers perfectly balanced proportions, ideal symmetry and intuitive simplicity while also offering the latest in appliance technology and a finish that conceals fingerprints – preventing a sometimes sticky life from disrupting clean design.

I’m so proud of our team for producing this remarkable 4,500-square-foot structure that effortlessly showcases the innovative products and systems of the Bridge House. I hope it provides as much inspiration for your home and design, as it did for me throughout the development of this project.
