2023 Kitchen Design Trends

The new year is around the corner and for many, this means updating or sprucing up the design of our kitchens, where we spend so much time throughout the year.

We collected our top four 2023 kitchen trends to help inspire you in achieving a refreshed kitchen aesthetic this year.

While a classic bright, white kitchen is timeless, colorful kitchens continue to increase in popularity. In recent months, we’ve seen beautiful kitchens in a variety of hues; anywhere from sage green to fiery crimsons and smooth cobalt.

A colorful kitchen update can be accomplished easily through a fresh coat of paint, whether that be throughout the space or only on your top or bottom cabinets. We’ve been loving both subdued earth colors and deep jewel tones, both of which could work beautifully with stainless-steel appliances or paneled appliances for a continuous integrated look.

Making a colorful kitchen doesn’t have to mean a complete paint overhaul either – you can upgrade your existing kitchen space to be more color-forward by introducing lively accessories. A bright runner rug, placemats or hand towels are all ways to bring in a pop of color into your space.

Eco-friendliness and efficiency are top of mind to today’s homeowners. By selecting appliances that are energy and water efficient, homeowners can rest easy knowing their kitchen is helping to save on water and electric usage – and lower utility bills. One of the simplest ways to bring more efficiency to the kitchen is by choosing appliances that are ENERGY STAR® certified, meaning they meet strict guidelines regarding energy efficiency set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

As for the backsplash, we consider this to be one of the best ways to personalize your kitchen to your liking - from minimalistic to maximalist. A slab backsplash in natural stone is a particular favorite of ours, but we also love the latest trend of patterned wallpaper backsplashes to introduce texture into a space.

Kitchen styles continue to transform with each passing year, with some trends turning into classic aesthetics and other, more dated styles, disappearing altogether. Because the kitchen is a gathering space in most households, one trend we love is the curation of specialized spaces within the kitchen that fit the lifestyle of the homeowner, such as coffee and wine bars.

Built-in coffee machines make it easy to make barista-level beverages at home, and even easier to entertain guests with their favorite drinks. The convenience of waking up to the smell of coffee is incomparable to anything else.

The same goes for creating a custom wine bar within your home – entertaining guests has never been easier. A wine bar even allows for additional beverage storage, helping you create more space in your refrigerator.
