To keep your dishwasher in top shape, you need to perform regular maintenance. Over time, bits of food, grease, undissolved detergent, and water minerals build up on the dishwasher's filter and interior walls. If you let the food build up, it can seriously damage the dishwasher's filter and pump.

Interiors

Use the Bosch dishwasher cleaner a few times a year to remove grease, starch, and protein residues. Simply add one box of cleaner to the bottom of your empty dishwasher and run the hottest, longest cycle.

To remove hard water deposits and limescale buildup, use the Bosch descaler a few times a year. Simply start the longest, hottest wash cycle on an empty dishwasher (don't add detergent). After 30 minutes add one box of descaler to the bottom of your dishwasher and let the wash cycle continue. Once that cycle has finished, run another wash cycle.

Some dishwasher models use softening salt to soften the hard water that enters the dishwasher. Softening salt is a great way to soften the hard water used in your dishwasher. Review your owner's manual to see if your dishwasher utilizes softening salt. If it does, simply pour the salt into the salt container, which is inside the dishwasher. Exteriors

To clean the exterior, use a damp cloth to wipe the door seals. Wash stainless steel with lukewarm water and mild soap using a soft cloth, wiping in the direction of the steel grain. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners, chlorine-based cleaners, or abrasive sponges.

Then, condition the stainless steel with the Bosch Stainless Steel Conditioner. DO NOT apply the conditioner to logos, control markings, or black stainless steel.

Filters

We recommend cleaning your filter every few months to remove food debris that may hinder your dishwasher’s performance. It’s located at the bottom of your dishwasher. After removing the filter, clean it by running it under water with soap and a soft brush.

Spray Arms

Keep your dishes sparkling by cleaning the spray arms every few months. Check that the spray arms are clean and not clogged. Just run it under water to see if any of the holes are blocked. If they are, use a toothpick to loosen any debris caught in the holes.

Pumps

If your dishwasher isn't draining and standing water is accumulating, you may need to unclog and clean the dishwasher pump. To clean your Bosch dishwasher pump, first remove and clean the filter with soap and a soft brush. Then, remove the pump cover located under the filter, and carefully clear any debris and standing water with a sponge.
